Things that make me happy:
1) coke zero
2) etsy.com and the japanese-style prints i ordered last week
3) not using capital letters
4) surprise cards, letters, and thank-you notes – both giving and receiving
5) feeling completely trusted by certain people
Things that make me crazy:
1) mouth noises: smacking, chomping, talking with a mouth full of food. but you all know this. i did not need to include it here.
2) disturbing and creepy dreams that last too long and are too memorable
3) the incompatibility in the music industry and the fact that i have to upload/download/burn all over the place in order to listen to music that i purchased legally and supposedly “own”
4) filling up at $4.07 per gallon
5) james dobson’s spewing against barack obama and the fact that people will accept what he says as the full and complete truth without doing the research for themselves
Man, you people are patient. Thanks for coming back and checking in!
Here, for no special reason, is a list of things that make me happy.* (Don’t get too worried that I have misplaced my true nature. Below this list will be a list of things that make me crazy.)
1) Kittens. My kittens are awesome. And nothing makes me feel as delightfully guilty as getting Langston to trace the laser beam in her army crawl position.
2) Simone. I am not sure that words can describe this, but my joy and happiness for Alexa and the safe home-coming of baby Simone can only be a fraction of a fraction of the happiness Alexa and Scott must feel themselves. Congratulations Flotsam family!
3) My boyfriend’s new book!!!
Bur that’s not all! Dave’s comic was discussed in a recent episode of The State of Things on NC NPR!!!! If that doesn’t impress you then please just stop reading because we obviously cannot be friends
4) Holy crap Obama did it. Am more than a little excited about his promise as our next fearless leader.
5) I have a secret. It makes me happy. No I can’t tell you it.
And in good order, here are 5 things that make me crazy:
1) Being second-guessed about an issue that isn’t all that important to begin with. Get over yourselves, please and thank you.
2) My arch enemy in the graduate program at school. Just don’t ask. If you ask I will not shut up with the complaining.
3) Car washes that do a worse job than my four-year-old niece.
4) That I can ooohhh so easily whip out a credit card. This goes hand in hand with being pressured by a sales lady to sign up for a store credit card. Believe me woman… I mean NO.
5) Stores that don’t take plastic and/or don’t take plastic for less than a certain amount.
*No meaning should be attached to the numerals included here. My order, like my life, is random.
Eh, hum.

These, my friends, are shoes. Ballroom dancing shoes. Because I am taking ballroom dancing classes.
I will pause now while you all recover from your choking/hyperventilating/hysterical, debilitating laughter.
Better now?
I just last week finished my first class in dancing, Salsa I. Next week I will start Salsa II. I know you all would pay a lot of money for video of this, so I will see what I can do, but I am hoping that it is not as awful as you might think! It’s been hard, yes, and made harder by my type-A-I-must-be-perfect-at-this personality, but it’s also lots of fun. Dave is an excellent teacher and he has been dancing for much longer. He is incredibly patient with me. If any of you are wanting to learn a dance I cannot really recommend starting with salsa, because it is hard, but I feel better having starting with something difficult. This gives me hope that the other dances will be a little easier.
Swing is Dave’s favorite dance and in my supremely limited experience it is the must fun as well, so I am especially excited to learn swing dancing one day. In the meantime, I SALSA! The classes have been interesting and what I am about to tell you just proves my point that I have no natural rhythm: It took me 4 weeks to understand the concept of beat. I was far too busy concentrating on my feet and hands and elbows to realize that it would all be a lot easier if I was following THE BEAT.
So you see. I am as surprised as you are about this whole thing. But then again, life has been surprising me left and right these few months so I am happy to add this to the list.
